MUED 1001 - Fundamentals of Conducting During their course of study, students will be taught the fundamentals of conducting, including the following: basic time-beating patterns; the use of non-verbal communication in the musical ensemble, foreign-language terms dealing with tempo, orchestration, articulation, notation, and form; dealing with transpositions for a variety of instruments; conducting different articulations; the role of the left hand in conducting; preparatory gestures; and the use of the baton.
