NURS 4224 - Nursing Care III: Community Health Prerequisites: NURS 3083 , NURS 3307 , NURS 3403 , and NURS 3412 . This course expands the focus of nursing to the community and populations by providing a theoretical basis for community health nursing and public health practices. Students participate in home visits, health screenings, and health promotions/educational activities. The course addresses environmental health, safety, disaster response, epidemiology, and communicable diseases affecting the health of individuals, families, and communities (4 credit hours are divided into 3 credit hours lecture and 1 credit hour clinical learning experiences, which is a 1:3 ratio, or 6 clinical contact hours/week). The course includes one half-hour recitation per week. Fall, spring.
