CHEM 1023 - University Chemistry I


Prerequisites: MATH 1023 , ACT math subscore of 21 or higher, or SAT math subscore of 520 or higher. One full year (or equivalent) of high school chemistry is strongly recommended. Students who have no high school chemistry are advised to complete CHEM 1013  or equivalent..
Corequisites: CHEM 1021 .
Theoretical and quantitative principles of inorganic chemistry, including laboratory qualitative and quantitative analysis. Basic theoretical and quantitative principles of inorganic chemistry associated with the concepts of the mole, solutions, concentration, heat, atomic and molecular structure, periodicity, bonding, physical states, and stoichiometry. Three lectures, one three-hour recitation, and one three-hour laboratory period per week. Credit for both CHEM 1011 /1013 and 1021/1023 will not be granted for chemistry majors. Laboratory three hours. Fall, spring.
