Psychology, BS PACT 8 Degree Plan
The psychology major attempts:
- To develop the understanding that laws of cause and effect operate in behavior and that behavior can be studied scientifically;
- To promote understanding of self and others through knowledge of basic principles of psychology;
- To develop an understanding of how psychological principles may be applied in child rearing, teaching, industry, and other fields of work; and
- To provide a sound background which will prepare majors for graduate work in psychology or employment in psychology-related vocations upon graduation.
A bachelor’s degree may qualify a person to work in such areas as mental health care centers, law enforcement agencies, industries (personnel work), various social work agencies, churches, and some private consulting firms. A background in psychology will also be valuable to students planning to enter such professions as industrial relations, the ministry, law, medicine, speech therapy, teaching, counseling, and community planning.
