ENGL 5063 - Introduction to Linguistics Students will explore key areas such as phonetics (speech sounds), phonology (sound patterns), morphology (word formation), and syntax (sentence structure). Students will also review the history and development of the English language, tracing its evolution from its origins to the present day. Through examples and practical exercises, students will develop a clearer understanding of how language functions as a system, laying a solid foundation for further study in linguistics and related fields.
